Frequently Asked Questions
Every person on this planet will tell you a different answer to this question. In our experience, there are places on the body that you hardly feel when tattooing, and there are places that hurt quite a lot. It is safe to assume that if it is your first time receiving a tattoo, the sensation won’t necessarily be pleasant, but take a look at how many people have tattoos… It doesn’t hurt that bad.
We ask you to please refrain from using alcohol or drugs of any kinds, prior to receiving your tattoo. If we suspect you are under the influence, we will politely ask you to return at a later date. Even medication such as Advil or Ibuprofen can have adverse effects when tattooing. Most pain/inflammation medications cause added bleeding when tattooing, which causes your artist to continuously wipe the area, increasing the time it takes to do the tattoo, thus increasing your end-cost.
The pain in bearable and we are willing to take as many breaks as possible to keep you as comfortable as possible. Again, please do not attempt to take medication or consume alcohol beforehand. We will know, and we will ask for you to come back another day.
We absolutely do! We would appreciate it if you gave our office a call beforehand, or even scheduled an appointment with us, but if you just can’t seem to wait, head on into the Shop and we’ll work to fit you into the schedule somehow! If we physically don’t have the time to do so, we’ll make sure you leave with an appointment time – potentially the very next day – to return and get your artwork done.
Yes, receiving a tattoo or piercing is completely safe in a vast majority of instances. As long as each artist in our shop strictly adheres to HIPPA precautions and Blood Borne Pathogen Safety, receiving a tattoo is extremely safe. Amour Tattoo requires each of our artists to put client safety as our first and foremost priority and would never do anything to jeopardize that. We have the highest level of sterilization possible, utilizing advanced autoclave sterilization methods, and go above and beyond all local health codes and laws. We do have a consent/waiver form which identifies certain instances when it would not be appropriate for an individual to receive tattoo or piercing, but these are rare instances.
Absolutely! Whether you have an exact design in mind, or have an idea but not a hard copy, we love working with you. It is our passion to make your designs come to life in the form of ink and want to make sure each and every design is exactly like what you want. If the stencil doesn’t come out exactly as you had hoped, simply tell us, and we will redo it for you. Tattoos are permanent so we want it to be perfect.
This is possibly the most asked tattoo questions on the internet. Our costs vary depending on a range of things. Amour Tattoo does not set firm costs on all things because size, detail, and your ability to sit through the session all come into play. Normally what we will do is give you an estimate at the time of your initial consultation. This estimate is a maximum estimate and if we can complete the tattoo at a faster rate than anticipated – you take fewer breaks during the session – then we will charge you less. Our pricing is normally based off of an hourly rate. With more intricate designs that will require a lot of planning, designing, and execution, your rate may be higher than those receiving simple stenciled writing of a name.
We cannot reiterate enough that this should not be your first concern. When it comes to a tattoo that stays on you for your entire life, you don’t want to cut corners on price. The old adage “You get what you pay for” couldn’t be more true than it is in tattooing. We have competitive pricing but you truly will ‘get what you pay for.’
You must be 18 years or older for a tattoo or piercing at Amour Tattoo. Work may be done on individuals as young as 16-18 year olds with a guardian or parent present with ID to sign a waiver.

For any tattoo or piercing, you must present a valid drivers license or current state photo ID which by law must be photocopied. You (and your parent/ guardian if your a minor) must also read and sign a waiver/ consent form.

If you cancel your appointment with more than 24 hours notice, you may apply your deposit towards your resheduled appointment. We NEVER under any circumstances will refund a deposit. We are sorry if this policy causes any inconvenience but is necessary to protect the intrests of our artists.
Our artists are incredible with their abilities. Most tattoos can be covered up with a larger tattoo at Amour Tattoo. We have specialists who love to perform cover-ups because these are more than just another tattoo. These help to erase poor work, bad memories, or anything that makes you dislike that ink.
Although we are specialists when it comes to cover-up work, there are always instances where it might not be 100% possible. What we will do then is go over some ideas with you on how we can blend the tattoo into something else to mask its appearance. We are always honest and never do tattoo work just to make a few dollars. If we truly feel as if a cover up isn’t possible, we’ll let you know, although that rarely ever occurs.
take the first step. We will do the rest.
Give us a call or shoot us over some contact information with some details about your project. Our artists are ready to turn your ideas into a reality.
